About

lisaI fell in love with books when I was a little girl and my mom read stories like C. S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia to me before I went to bed each night. I loved the Narnia books so much that I would crawl inside my parents’ wardrobe and pretend to be in that snowy world, hiding from the white witch! It wasn’t long before I began writing my own stories. I couldn’t tell you how many tales filled my notebooks, but I always made my best friend, Julie, listen to me as I read these stories aloud. (Thanks, Julie!)

You might not be surprised to learn that I became an English teacher. This allowed me to keep reading great books and to help my students learn to write. My students seemed to love the books I chose to read with them, and I began to wonder: could I write stories that my students would love? I decided to give it a try!

A few years ago I married my best friend, who is also a teacher. When I am not writing, teaching teachers, or designing curriculum, my husband and I love to hike, bike, and canoe here in Colorado or take a road trip to someplace we have never been before. We love adventure! This spirit of adventure helped me to write my books. I hope you catch the spirit of adventure, too!
